About the Artist

Erin Karsten is an artist from Green Bay, WI, working in the fields of photography, sculpture, and painting. Karsten graduated summa cum laude from American University in Washington, DC with a degree in International Relations and holds a Certificate Degree in Nonprofit Leadership from Harvard University. A lifelong learner, she is currently in pursuit of a second Bachelors in Studio Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. She is the recipient of the Hagemeister Family Merit Scholarship for Art and the Jerry Dell Award. Her photography earned her the Best In Show Award at the Lawton Gallery’s 51st Student Juried Exhibition at UW-Green Bay. She has exhibited her work in group shows throughout the Green Bay Area at the Neville Museum, the Art Garage, and Create with SAGE. Her art is informed by her many interests which include human rights activism, the social and environmental impacts of consumerism, and socioeconomic class structures. Her current body of work investigates the legacy and meaning behind the American Dream. In her free time, she can be found working on her French fluency, enjoying the outdoors, or playing with her cat, Terrance.
